What we keep, and where it goes
Updated October 31, 2026. This note covers Stay Exit Zero, the two houses in North Cape May, and the request form on this site.
A request
When you send a request we collect the house, dates, number of adults and children, your name, email, phone, how you heard about us, and anything you write in the note. Pets are not accepted, so that answer is always no. An optional box records whether we may email you about open weeks.
That information is emailed to [email protected], and a short acknowledgement is emailed to you, once mail from this site is connected. Until then the request is stored with our host so we can still reply. We do not put guest details in the website code, and we do not write them into the server logs on purpose.
The agreement
If we send a signing link, it holds the house, dates, your name and email, the party size, and the rent we agreed. The link expires after 72 hours. When you sign, we email a PDF to you and to [email protected]. The PDF includes the time, the IP address and browser the request came from, and a SHA-256 hash of the agreement text and version. That is the audit block. We do not keep a separate guest database on this site.
Payment
Payment happens on a Stripe Payment Link that a person creates. Card numbers are entered on Stripe, not on this site. We do not store card data. Zelle details, if any, are sent only for a repeat guest the owner has approved.
The calendar
The availability calendar reads a calendar feed so we can shade busy nights. It is display only. It can lag. It is not the booking record.
Spam check
The form has a hidden field. If a spam-check key is configured, the form also uses Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile may receive your IP address under Cloudflare's terms.
Analytics
If analytics are turned on, we use Plausible, which does not use cookies and does not need a consent banner. We count page views and four events: starting a request, sending a request, signing the agreement, and clicking pay. If the analytics domain is not set, no analytics script is loaded.
Cookies
This site does not set a tracking cookie. A signing link is a URL, not a cookie.
How long, and your questions
Request and agreement emails are kept in the mailbox the way ordinary business email is kept. A request stored before mail is connected stays until it is in the mailbox and the extra copy is deleted. Write [email protected] to ask what we have, or to tell us to stop mailing you about open weeks. Marketing mail is only sent if you checked that box.
